Kamenna chata offers its guests double, triple beds rooms and apartments, all with hot and cold washing facilities - showers and toilets are provided on each corridor. Double rooms are also available with in suite facilities. For family there is a suite with lounge, T.V. and kitchen, with ample space for 4 guests.
The restaurant
This is situated only 40 metres from the accomodation wing. Throught the day tasty light meals /hot and cold/ and drinks are served in the bar area.
A little history
A mountain hotel "Kamenna chata" is situated in Demänovská valley, close to entrance to the famous Demänovská ice cave. The hotel consists of a two building complex. Originally there was only a small stone walled house built in 1905. This was the first house to offer rooms for guests in the valley, at first the main guests were from local forestry workers.
Demänovská valley is the most frequently visited valley of teh Low Tatras with unique natural and extensive limestone cave areas. In the valley and on the upper mountain slopes are excellent facilities for both summer and winter sports and tourist activities.
Recreation, hiking and sports
As a service to guests Kamenná chata offers an exchange office. Sports equipment for table tennis, mountain biking and skiing can be hired. Games for the days when weather is a little inclement can also be borrowed for nominal charge. In front of the day bar is a childs playground with sand pit and swings. The tennis playground and fireplace is also available. There are well signposted walking trails throught the valley. For the more adventurous hiker trails lead up mountain ridges of the Low and West Tatras. In winter excellent skiing is possible on the slopes of Chopok mountain. The skiing centre of Jasna is one of the best resorts in Slovakia, providing an integrated system of lifts and very good snow conditions.
The reservoir Liptovská Mara just outside the entrance to the valley provides water sports, swimming, rowing, water skiing and fishing facilities. Nearby are the villages of Liptovský Ján and Bešeňová with hot thermal swimming pools operating all year.
